Profile

Armstrong, Ghyoot & Ehlers has been active in the short term insurance industry since 1987, and are expert at professional indemnity and liability insurance.

Our client base is varied; commercial enterprise, ranging from multi-million turnover Specialist Vehicle Manufacturers to small, stay-at-home Mom & Pop operations. Add to that some international Embassy staff, Doctors, Engineers and other professionals, all resulting in expert, hands-on experience with a vast range of diverse business and personal cover.

Naturally, we insure the owners' private homes and vehicles, too.

From Army vehicles to Weighbridges; we cover them all.

We are fully compliant and licensed by the Financial Services Board.

The best test:

Consider what would happen should the event for which you are contemplating insurance occur, and you need to file a claim.

The responsibility for selecting a policy rests with the consumer rather than the insurance company. This also means the customer should ask for a product that suits his specific circumstances, instead of being incorporated into a blanket plan. This implies that an advisor, who can suggest the right product, be consulted.

Many consumers are not aware of either their needs or the various options available to them. The advisory role that the broker plays is often overlooked, rather than sought, as a professional's, offering advice.

Direct insurers offer their services from a call centre, and are centralised. They also really know only one product — that of their own company.

The broker considers limits, exclusions, special conditions and the extent of the cover overall

Brokers have a customer focus to help you find the product with the best value for you to make the most informed decision.

Why use a broker?

The Financial Services Board licensed broker:

■ independently assesses insurance products, facilitates services; through experience and expert knowledge, adds value.

■ does not have a conflict of interest. The broker doesn't carry the risk, and is thus not overly influenced by the cost of claims.

■ is a specialist member of your team and shouldn't be viewed as a middleman.

■ advises the right cover at the right price for the right circumstances.

■ will look at the best of a huge selection of possible deals for you.

■ is localised to represent a multitude of companies and therefore can offer you a much broader range of options and advice.

■ deals with insurance issues every day of the year.

A clients interest in insurance arises only when contemplating insurance.

These days, the choice of policies is enormous and the industry is more competitive (and complicated) than ever.

Legal claims and counter-claims focus on the need for a more precise understanding of exposure and liabilities.

The brokers main concern is the prompt and fair settlement of the claim.
